Payment Implementation & Decision Engine
Led end-to-end digital transformation including payment integration, Temporal workflow migration, and intelligent loan decision engine development for a financial services group.
The Challenge
A financial services group needed to modernize their payment infrastructure. Their existing system was a monolithic application with tightly coupled payment flows, no workflow orchestration, and manual loan decisioning that required multiple team members for each application. Deployments caused downtime, and performance degraded under load.
The Approach
I led a three-phase transformation:
- Migrated payment workflows to Temporal for durable execution, retry handling, and visibility into long-running processes
- Built an intelligent loan decision engine that automated end-to-end decisioning using rule-based and ML-driven scoring
- Established zero-downtime deployment pipeline with blue-green deploys and automated rollback
- Integrated with national payment infrastructure (NIBSS) for real-time payment processing
Technology Stack
The Result
The migration to Temporal delivered a 60% improvement in p95 response times. Loan decisions were fully automated end-to-end, eliminating manual bottlenecks. The zero-downtime deployment pipeline meant the team could ship multiple times per day without affecting users. The combined modernization effort produced over $500K in operational savings through reduced manual processing, fewer errors, and faster throughput.
